On the road again – tour of Norway and Sweden

Last two weeks we made another tour through the beautiful Scandinavia. This time we left in the middle of the night to make sure we were ahead of the traffic jams in Germany and could drive on. Because yes with two Landrover Defenders on the road is not as fast as with a modern car. Catch the ferry in time and continue to Denmark. And then a few hours later the bridge to Sweden.

The first night was quite a bit restless because it was blowing a lot and then the roof tents large. You feel like you're going to fly off the roof, but fortunately those things can have something. That day we drove to Norway. Beautiful weather, nice outdoor lunch in the sun, beautiful old churches viewed.

That week we made beautiful walks to waterfalls, looked at the children under the waterfall, drove beautifully over the plateaus where it was a lot colder. Also very beautiful was the historic route at Laerdal. Normally we always took the tunnel, but now we thought we take the Old route. We knew that, two fat Defenders on narrow roads, an Italian in his old Renault Clio who continuously lowered his car when pulling up, and opposing motorhomes that you had to pass on a road that was too narrow. This should really become one-way traffic without people who can't do the slope test.

Super cool views when you looked out over the fjords. Sheep and cows on the road in the middle of noware. And finally back to the camping in Laerdal where we just got married for the first time, so really known for years this piece of Norway.

Unfortunately, we had to make the choice to go back to Sweden because the weather forecast only got worse, we did a good job of that, but it was a pity. Our heart really lies more with Norway than Sweden.

But we also had nice days there, cycling on an old train track with old maintenance cars, visiting an old town that looked super nice on Google with old streets, that really turned out to be just a street, the rest was just super modern, visited a flea market, because that was also on the schedule, visited an elk wildlife park, because yes if you don't see it in the wild, we have to look them up ourselves this year. And then with two Defenders through that park is of course also a lot of fun. And then it was time to drive back to the Netherlands on the easy way.

In short, great fun, with the switch to Sweden, but afterwards had a nice dry second week instead of the many rains that fell in Norway.
